Five questions to ask any solar installer

Take these to every quote, including ours. A good installer will be glad you asked.

Read the full guide
  1. 01

Who actually installs it: your employees or a subcontractor?

Many systems are sold by one company and installed by a subcontract crew. The person on your roof should work for the company you pay.

LMS: LMS uses its own employed electricians and apprentices. No subcontractors.

  2. 02

Where is the support line answered?

Most solar problems show up after installation. Ring the number on the quote before you sign and see who picks up.

LMS: One Australian number, 1300 456 776, and a real office and depot in Slacks Creek.

  3. 03

What happens when something fails in year six?

Manufacturer warranties need someone to diagnose and replace the part. If the installer has gone, that someone is you.

LMS: A 10-year workmanship warranty from LMS itself, plus servicing and monitoring from the same team.

  4. 04

Are the reviews real and recent?

Fake testimonials happen in this industry. Look for lots of reviews on independent sites, spread over years.

LMS: 5.0 from 198 Google reviews and 4.8 from 96 on SolarQuotes, quoted word for word on this site.

  5. 05

Is the company older than the rebate?

Plenty of solar companies appeared when the battery rebates did. Check when the business was registered.

LMS: LMS Electrical has been installing across South East Queensland since 2013.

LMS Electrical vs the installers that give solar a bad name

A lot of solar companies appeared the moment battery rebates did. We've been installing across South East Queensland since 2013, and we'll still be here when your panels need a service.

It happens. In 2015 the Federal Court fined the companies behind Euro Solar and Australian Solar Panel $145,000 (including $20,000 against the director) for fake testimonials and false "made in Australia" claims (ACCC media release). The right-hand column describes common industry problems, not any named company.

What customers say, word for word

  • Five stars.

… Everything was seamless, no fuss and professional. Tradespeople arriving on time, taking the truth and making the project ‘happen’ in a timely manner.

When we encountered a glitch with the battery, … dropped what he was doing and attended our site, making sure everything was working as it should.

  • Five stars.

Everything went so smoothly, they went above and beyond to answer all my questions, they're super responsive, you won't be waiting days on end for a reply. I would definitely recommend choosing LMS over some of the larger solar installation companies who use pressure sales tactics to get you to sign up. Very efficient and tidy, not one bit of mess or rubbish was left, you wouldn't even know they had been on site.

… I was a bit concerned as the installation day was cloudy and rainy. However, the installation team was extremely professional, and it was clear they had extensive experience and excellent teamwork.

In addition, communication with the customer service and accounts teams was very quick and efficient. Everything was handled perfectly.

Never used LMS Electrical before but received a recommendation to do so for a home storage battery. Glad I did. From start to finish, the whole operation was handled very professionally. Recommendations for location and options were great and we are more than happy with the Anker Solix X1 battery that was installed. Top marks to the team at LMS. I will be using you again!

  • Five stars.

LMS Elec installed my solar and battery system 6 months ago. The system has been awesome massively reducing power bills. The entire team were great to deal with pre, during and post install. My power failed a few weeks ago, one of the team went out of their way to come and inspect it for me. Turned out to be a grid fault, despite it not being their concern, they helped me diagnose and escalate the resolution.

FAQ

Straight answers to common questions

Not covered here? Call 1300 456 776 and talk to the team.

Do you use subcontractors?

No, we do not rely on subcontractors. Our fully qualified and experienced in-house electricians handle all aspects of your solar installation. This means significantly higher-quality workmanship.

Are all solar companies electrical contractors?

No, unfortunately most companies that sell solar in Australia are not electrical contractors and instead subcontract the installation out to other companies. LMS Electrical is an electrical contractor. This means we do the installations and deliver a seamless, high-quality service from start to finish while providing post-installation monitoring and support.

How long does it take to install a solar system?

The physical installation of a residential solar system varies from one day to several days, depending on the size of the system, but the entire process, from initial consultation to the installation of a fully functioning solar system, may take several weeks, depending on permitting and inspection requirements.

What brands do we use?

At LMS Electrical, we partner with industry-leading brands such as LONGi, Jinko, Tesla, Sigenergy, Fronius and Sungrow to provide premium quality solar panels and inverters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

What is a virtual power plant (VPP)?

A VPP refers to a network of homes or businesses with rooftop solar and battery storage that are connected using smart AI-based software. VPPs allow customers who are a part of the program to share and maximise the use of solar energy, potentially supercharging your energy savings.

How long do battery storage systems typically last?

Battery storage systems have varying lifespans depending on factors like battery chemistry and usage patterns. However, the high-quality battery storage systems that LMS Electrical install have a minimum 10-year warranty, ensuring long-term benefits and returns on investment.

How often should I schedule servicing for my energy systems?

Regular servicing is recommended at least once a year to ensure optimal performance and catch any potential issues before they escalate.

Can I charge an electric vehicle (EV) at home?

Opting for charger installation at your home is a great idea. Because you can charge your electric vehicle at home by installing a Level 2 charging station. This allows for convenient overnight charging and ensures your vehicle is ready to go in the morning.
